Who are we?

Adhikar was born from a simple yet powerful realization: that access to education and healthcare is not a privilege, but a right. The spark was ignited when Anika, our founder, witnessed the devastating effects of broken institutions while interning with the Ministry of Women and Child Development. What began as fieldwork among displaced, abused, and exploited women evolved into a nationwide movement to rebuild dignity—brick by brick, child by child.

The name "Adhikar" —meaning "right" —reflects our mission to ensure every woman and child in India can live, learn, and thrive with dignity. We began with one Anganwadi in rural Rajasthan and have grown into a student-led initiative impacting thousands across India.

A woman holding a child stands with her back to the camera, watching a group of students in school uniforms. The students are gathered in a loose formation, wearing light-colored uniforms with backpacks. The woman is wrapped in a colorful shawl with floral patterns, and the scene takes place in a park-like setting with trees in the background.

Adhikar is led by a passionate team of student volunteers, development experts, and grassroots leaders across 5 Indian states. We are united by a shared mission: to restore rights wherethey’ve long been denied.
